Leeds United's delay in announcing their pre-season schedule appears to be down to a request from new head coach Thomas Christiansen for more games to be added to the fixture list.

Teams have been announcing their pre-season schedules and tours thick and fast, but Leeds fans are still waiting to discover who the Whites will be playing to build up to the new Championship season.

Leeds are expected to head to Austria, while a friendly against non-league minnows Guiseley is also tipped to take place.

The delay in announcing though appears to be as a result of new head coach Christiansen.

Indeed, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the new boss has asked the club to increase the number of games Leeds will play over the course of pre-season.

It is unclear who the Whites might take on, but Christiansen and the club's new sporting director Victor Orta have significant contacts in Spain.

Pre-season will be a vital time for Christiansen to assess the squad left to him by his predecessor Garry Monk and the 44-year-old wants further games to run the rule over his players.

Christiansen will also want new signings to be able to bed in during match situations.
