Riyad Mahrez prefers a move to Arsenal over Chelsea and Liverpool, but the Gunners' lack of Champions League football could yet scupper the deal.

The Algeria international is ready to leave Leicester City this summer after showing loyalty by snubbing interest last year to complete a further 12 months at the King Power Stadium.

Mahrez believes he has been given the green light to leave Leicester and clubs are now looking towards snapping up the coveted winger.

According to Algerian sports daily Le Buteur, at present Mahrez prefers a move to Arsenal, despite attracting interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.

A source close to the player has revealed that Mahrez feels with Arsene Wenger in the dugout and several French-speakers in the team at Arsenal, a move to the Emirates Stadium would make sense and would offer an easier settling in period.

He is also confident that joining Arsenal would give him a good chance of playing on a week in, week out basis.

But Mahrez also wants Champions League football, having vowed to play in the competition every year following a taste of it with Leicester last season.

Arsenal cannot offer Champions League football, but both Chelsea and Liverpool can.

As he waits for developments on his future and mulls his options, Mahrez is currently relaxing in the Maldives with his family.
