New Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti has expressed his admiration for Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, though he insists that the player isn't a transfer target for the club.

Spalletti, who worked with the Arsenal contracted goalkeeper at Roma last term, has been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, who also remains a target for fellow Serie A side Juventus.

The coach though insists that he has other issues to solve at the moment and in spite of his admiration for the player, he will not focus on signing him from Arsenal as he already has Samir Handanovic at his disposal.

The primary focus for the Italian giants is to raise money to meet UEFA's financial fair play requirements, and therefore Spalletti insists that he will focus on selling players before he can look forward to signing new stars.

"We already have Samir Handanovic, who is very experienced and strong. I've already worked with him and I know his quality. For the moment we've got him", the coach was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

"Then obviously Szczesny is a modern player, because he can use his feet and in modern football you need that to start moves from the back.

"We want to do something important this season and we have strong players in the squad, so first of all we'll take into consideration those we've got and who I like.

"Then, looking at Financial Fair Play, we'll try to improve the squad, focusing on sales first. It might seem as if Juventus, Roma and Napoli are impossible to catch, as it won't be easy to get an extra nine or 10 victories per year.

"Our objective is to give Inter back the history it deserves."

Szczesny's contract with the Gunners end this summer with Arsene Wenger's side yet to offer him a new contract.
