Bayern Munich and Liverpool target Julian Brandt has ruled out a move away from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer as he concentrates on helping his team recover from a disappointing campaign.

Reports in Germany suggested that the 21-year-old had already agreed a deal with German giants Bayern Munich in April before his father and agent had to come out to deny those reports.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has also been a keen admirer of the winger and has been hoping to take him to Anfield, though the former VfL Wolfsburg academy graduate's words will now cool any further transfer talk.

The young winger insists that he has a moral responsibility towards his team after a disappointing 2016/17 campaign wherein they finished as the 12th placed team in the Bundesliga and will not take the risk of moving to a bigger club ahead of next year's World Cup.

"My stomach as well as my mind tell me that the right moment for a transfer is not there yet", Brandt said in an interview with Kicker.

"I am still young, but also in my fourth year – I feel responsible for the bad season. I therefore see it as my duty to bring the club back where it belongs and for me that means among the top six.

"Of course there are players who say a year without European football ahead of the World Cup is a reason to change clubs.

"But a transfer to a bigger club is also taking a risk one year ahead of the World Cup. You have to settle in there and possibly you don't get so much game time."
