Bayer Leverkusen are softening their stance on Arsenal linked midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu as AC Milan push forward with their pursuit of him.

The 23-year-old creative midfielder has been on the radar of several top clubs in Europe over the last few years and it seems AC Milan are making a real attempt to snare him away from the Bundesliga this summer.

The Rossoneri have already tabled an initial bid worth €15m and while it is much lower than Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price of €30m, AC Milan are becoming increasingly confident about working out a deal.

According to Sky Italia, AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli is in talks with representatives of the German club and Leverkusen are softening their stance on the Turkey international.

It has been claimed that despite their initial insistence on banking €30m from the midfielder’s sale, the Bundesliga outfit are prepared to water down their price for Calhanoglu.

And there is growing confidence in AC Milan that they should be able to agree a fee around the €20m mark with Leverkusen and take the midfielder to the San Siro this summer.

The Turkish midfielder, who scored seven goals and provided seven assists last season, has a contract until 2019 with Bayer Leverkusen.

Calhanoglu also has 28 international caps beside his name for Turkey.
