Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has refused to provide any assurances that Nottingham Forest target Barrie McKay has a future under him at Ibrox.

McKay has been linked with a move away from Rangers with many indicating that he is not in Caixinha’s plans going forward and the club are prepared to listen to offers for him.

The winger, who has attracted interest from English Championship outfit Nottingham Forest, has been left out of Rangers’ squad for their Europa League qualifier on Thursday night against Progres Niederkorn.

Caixinha refused to provide any reasons for his decision to leave out the Scotland winger and indicated that McKay has been training with the club’s Under-20s squad.

He also didn't provide any clarity on whether McKay will be at the club beyond the end of the transfer window.

Asked for his reason for leaving out McKay, Caixinha said in a press conference: “Nothing, he is not in the squad.

“Today the Under-20s were off, so he was not training today.

“I am not focused on that situation [on whether he has a future at Rangers], I am just focused on tomorrow’s match.”

The 22-year-old, who has a contract until the end of next season with Rangers, scored six goals and provided eleven assists last season in all competitions.
