Manchester City are plotting to send Lyon target Jason Denayer to newly acquired Spanish outfit Girona this summer.

The 21-year-old defender spent the last season on loan at Sunderland and is expected to be loaned out by Manchester City again this summer as part of his development.

Lyon, who have been keeping an eye on the Belgian for several years, are interested in snapping him up on loan and they have already held talks with the player in order to convince him.

With the French club in the Europa League and also regularly competing in the top echelons of French football, the defender is tempted at the opportunity to move to France.

But Denayer is not the sole decision maker of his future and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Manchester City are planning to send him out on loan to Girona this summer.

The City Football Group have almost acquired 100 per cent of the newly promoted La Liga club and Manchester City are planning to send several of their players to their sister club in Spain for more exposure.

The young Belgian defender is not keen on playing for a club of Girona’s level even in a top league such as La Liga and is more interested in a loan move to Lyon in the summer.

It remains to be seen whether he looks to impose his views on Manchester City this summer to force his way to France or looks to accept a move to Girona.
