Arsenal are working overtime to secure the signature of winger Thomas Lemar from Monaco and have sent an offer to the Ligue 1 champions.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has so far been frustrated in his transfer market efforts, but the Frenchman is increasingly determined to make sure he scoops up Lemar.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Arsenal have slapped in an offer which is significantly above the €30m offered by Atletico Madrid last summer.

Wenger is claimed to have made signing Lemar one of his summer priorities and Arsenal are doing all they can to make sure he ends up at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Wenger has long been aware of Lemar and was a firm fan of the 21-year-old when he was turning out for his first club in football, Caen.

Lemar was a key man for Monaco last season as the principality club won the Ligue 1 title under coach Leonardo Jardim, while also making an impact in the Champions League.

It remains to be seen if Lemar will be keen on dropping out of the Champions League by moving to Arsenal as the Gunners only have Europa League football to offer.

The winger has won five caps for France at international level.
