Real Betis are in negotiations with Chelsea for the signature of Leeds United linked midfielder Mario Pasalic.

The Croatian midfielder spent last season on loan at AC Milan and is expected to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions before he is shipped out on loan again this summer.

AC Milan have been interested in re-signing him ahead of the new season, but they are facing competition from clubs such as Lazio, Valencia and even Championship outfit Leeds.

However, it has been claimed that Real Betis have also entered the chase and according to Calciomercato.it, they are in negotiations with Chelsea to sign the midfielder on loan.

There have been suggestions that they are closing in on an agreement, but negotiations have not ended and the Spanish giants are still trying to close out a deal with Chelsea.

Despite interest from Lazio, the Roman giants are yet to make any concrete move to take Pasalic, who was impressive in Serie A last season, to the Stadio Olimpico thus far.

Leeds have been linked with a loan move for Pasalic, but it is unclear whether the player himself would want to play in the second tier of English football next season.
