Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that his club have spoken with the family of former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but aren't hopeful of bringing him back to Spain in January.

The Swede is looking for a new club while recovering from a knee injury after the Red Devils decided against renewing his one-year contract at the end of the season.

While a number of options have already been discussed, the Atleti president insists that his club could look at the possibility of taking Ibrahimovic to the Vicente Calderon but aren't sure about their chances.

The Madrid giants are currently barred from signing any players after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the ban that had been imposed on them by FIFA for illegally signing players under the age of 16.

While the ban lifts in January, Cerezo isn't sure that a deal would be possible even after that.
