Arsenal as closing in on the signature of Alexandre Lacazette as Lyon look to maximise the transfer fee they are keen to receive from his sale.

Lyon have already rejected an offer from Arsenal for the 26-year-old striker and despite club president Jean-Michel Aulas insisting that the player could continue at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, a deal is on the cards.

Arsenal have continued to hold talks for the Frenchman’s signature and according to French sports daily L'Equipe, it is only a matter of time before he moves to north London this summer.

Lyon are looking to earn a fee of around €60m from the striker's sale and it has been suggested that the two clubs could agree a fee based on performance based add-ons.

The striker considered joining Atletico Madrid this summer, but with the Spanish club banned from the window, Lacazette has been convinced to move to England with Arsenal.

The Frenchman is hoping to prove himself in one of the toughest leagues in Europe to attract the attention of France coach Didier Deschamps, who has only sparingly used him on the international stage.

Arsenal are also hopeful that signing a player of Lacazette’s quality could also help them to convince Alexis Sanchez to continue at the Emirates next season.
