Chelsea youngster Todd Kane is joining Dutch side FC Groningen on loan for next season. 

The full-back is not an unknown quantity in Dutch football, having had a loan spell at NEC Nijmegen in the 2015/16 campaign; it ended on a bad note for Kane as he hurt his cruciate ligament in April 2016.




Now Kane will be heading back to the Netherlands on a loan deal with Groningen, according to Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad.

The 23-year-old featured on a regular basis for NEC in the Eredivisie and will be hoping to once again clock up regular first team football
 


A product of Chelsea's youth system, Kane made just three appearances for the club's Under-23s in the Premier League 2 last season.

Kane, who mainly operates as a right-back but can play further up the right flank if needed, is under contract with Chelsea for a further two years.

The defender's new club, Groningen, finished in eighth spot in the Eredivisie last season.
