Chile legend Ivan Zamorano has told countryman Alexis Sanchez he will not be able to win the trophy he craves if he stays at Arsenal.

Sanchez has been mulling whether to sign a new contract at Arsenal to replace the deal which expires next summer, or move elsewhere, with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain all keen.

Zamorano believes Sanchez is a winner and desperately wants to lift the Champions League, something the Chile legend thinks cannot happen at Arsenal.

And Zamorano has advised the forward to join a more important club than the Gunners.

"I think Alexis knows very well what to do", Zamorano said on SFR Sport.

"He is a man who has goals and objectives.

"They are fundamental to making a choice.

"I think he likes to win.

"And what he wants above all else is to win the Champions League – and I do not think he will have the opportunity to do that at Arsenal.

"He must know that he would be more useful to an important team, but it is his decision, his personal choice."

Following the conclusion of the Confederations Cup, Sanchez is likely to reveal his decision, something which could instantly spark a bidding war for his signature as Arsenal are expected to sell him this summer if he refuses to pen a fresh contract.

The 28-year-old joined Arsenal in 2014, but has seen the Gunners go backwards and drop out of the Premier League's top four during his time at the club.
