Liverpool are willing to give Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa a five-year contract worth almost €3m per year if he agrees to move to Anfield, but the Argentine is hoping for a higher amount.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen on taking the 22-year-old to Anfield and, having given the green light, discussions have been kicked off between the relevant parties.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Liverpool have let Correa know a five-year deal paying €2.82m per year is waiting for him on Merseyside if the move goes through.

However, it is claimed Correa has a higher sum in mind and is angling for €4.5m per year.

Atletico Madrid meanwhile are unsure on selling Correa, but it has been suggested a bid of €28m could force the Spanish club's hand.

A complicating factor is Atletico Madrid's transfer ban which means the club could not replace Correa if they do decide to sell.

As such, Los Rojiblancos are thinking long and hard over potential departures.

Atletico Madrid signed the Argentine hitman from San Lorenzo in 2014, splashing out €7.5m to do the deal and handing him a contract until the summer of 2019.
