Swiss side FC Lugano appear to have all but confirmed forward Ezgjan Alioski will be joining Leeds United.

The English Championship outfit have been chasing Macedonia forward Alioski, but have faced opposition for his signature from a number of clubs, including Swiss champions Basel.

Alioski has increasingly been tipped for a move to Elland Road though and Lugano say that the training session he participated in at the weekend is likely one of his last at the club.

Providing an update on pre-season training, Lugano said in a statement that "Alioski probably had one of his last training sessions with his former team-mates.

"The completion of his transfer to an English club is imminent", it added.

Lugano's statement will be seen as a clear sign that Alioski is Leeds bound, unless another English club have made a late move to hijack the deal.

Leeds are focusing their transfer efforts overseas this summer, raising question marks about how the new arrivals will adapt to life in the Championship, but potentially promising better value for money than English deals.

The Whites are also closing in on Chievo Verona striker Caleb Ekuban, who spent last season on loan in Albania.
