Inter Milan are interested in snapping up Tottenham Hotspur summer target Matias Vecino from Fiorentina and are considering his activating his release clause this summer.

The Nerazzurri touched base with the player’s agent last month and they have continued to keep tabs on the midfielder throughout the summer as they look to strengthen their squad.

New Inter coach Luciano Spalletti has also given his approval to the club’s pursuit of the Fiorentina midfielder and according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Inter held talks with his agent last week too.

Inter are serious about snaring the midfieleder away from Fiorentina and are expected to accelerate their efforts to sign Vecino in the coming days.

However, they could face stiff competition from England for his signature as Tottenham have also identified Vecino as a possible target and are considering a move.

But any move from Spurs looks dependent on Eric Dier’s future at the club as Vecino has been identified as a replacement for the England midfielder, who is a Manchester United target.

Tottenham are only expected to make any serious play for the Fiorentina man if Dier leaves for Manchester United in a big money transfer.

It has been claimed that his agent is set to meet Inter again today and the Nerazzurri are prepared to trigger the €24m release clause in his contract
