Only completing his medical stands between Jacob Murphy and him putting pen to paper on a contract with Newcastle United, as personal terms have been agreed.

Newcastle have been chasing the forward for much of the summer and recently managed to thrash out an agreement with Norwich City for the player's signature.

Murphy arrived in Dublin on Monday night to link up with Newcastle at their training base and is now closing in on becoming a Magpies player.

He will have a medical with Newcastle today, according to the Shields Gazette, having already agreed personal terms.

Landing Murphy will be a boost for Magpies boss Rafael Benitez, who has been keen to snap up the forward after seeing him play for the Canaries at close quarters last season.
