Real Madrid have indeed agreed a world record transfer fee with Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappe but Manchester City have also slapped in a bid for the player.

Reports in Spain on Wednesday claimed that Real Madrid have agreed a deal in principle with Monaco worth €180m for the signature of the 18-year-old striker.

The Ligue 1 champions promptly denied the claim and insisted that no such deal is in place, but according to French sports daily L’Equipe, they have agreed a bigger fee with Real Madrid.

It has been claimed that Monaco have agreed a deal worth €200m (€180m plus €20m in bonus payments) with Real Madrid, but there are no guarantees that Mbappe will leave the Stade Louis II this summer.

The Frenchman is still considering his future and staying at Monaco has not been ruled out as he wants to continue to play regular football next season ahead of the World Cup.

The saga has been further complicated by Manchester City’s aggressive intent to sign Mbappe and they have also slapped in a bid worth €180m for the teenage superstar.

And a move to the Etihad could be a possibility as Mbappe is attracted to the idea of playing under Pep Guardiola and the Spanish coach has already spoken to his entourage this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in the youngster but for the moment Real Madrid and Manchester City are the front runners to nab Mbappe this summer.
