Zenit St Petersburg are poised to slap in an offer for Liverpool linked defender Emanuel Mammana this summer.

With Lyon overloaded with centre-back options in their team, there are suggestions that they could look to offload players to trim the fat from their squad.

And the 21-year-old Mammana’s future has come under the scanner with a number of clubs in Europe keeping close tabs on the Argentine defender at Lyon.

Liverpool are believed to be interested in taking him to England, but it emerged on Friday that Zenit are also keen on the young defender and could make a move for him soon.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the Russians giants are prepared to table an offer worth €16m to snare Mammana away from Les Gones during the current window.

Lyon coach Bruno Genesio has already stated that Mammana is not expected to be a regular starter next season due to his inexperience and it could push the player towards the exit door.

The youngster remains highly rated at Lyon, but the Ligue 1 side could be forced into selling him because the player is believed to be keen to play regular football.

Inter Milan and Valencia have also been alive to the possibility of signing the Argentina international in the current window.
