Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has insisted that he is happy to continue at Old Trafford despite interest from big Italian clubs.

Darmian’s importance to Jose Mourinho was again underlined when he started in Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Monday night in the UEFA Super Cup final.

The Italian struggled for game time under the Portuguese in the initial months of last season, but ended the campaign as one of the most important players in the Manchester United squad.

He has again been heavily linked with a move to Italy this summer with clubs such as Juventus and Inter Milan believed to be interested in him and Darmian admits that he has enjoyed the attention of the Serie A giants.

However, he conceded that he has received no concrete offer on his table and the defender stressed that he is happy to continue at Manchester United next season.

Darmian told Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset: “It’s nice that I am at United and not in the market and I have enjoyed the interest of the big Italian clubs.

“However, there has been nothing concrete and I see myself staying here as I am feeling fine.

“And I think it’s useless to talk about transfers after such a defeat.”

Darmian has a little less than two years left on his contract with Manchester United.
