Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is aware of the pressure he is going to be under this season in England to justify his hefty price tag.

The Blues turned to Morata after missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United this summer and paid a whopping €80m to Real Madrid to take the Spaniard to west London.

Antonio Conte has already insisted that he wants to see Morata improve his fitness and the Spaniard played just two pre-season games before coming on as a substitute against Arsenal in the Community Shield last Sunday.

Missing a penalty during the shootout didn’t help his cause and the striker is aware that he will be under pressure to justify his billing at Chelsea this season.

However, Morata is confident that he has the personality to cope with it and has insisted that the huge price tag is motivating him further to put in the hard yards at Chelsea.

Asked about the huge transfer fee, the striker told Spanish daily Marca: “I admit it’s a huge amount but I have the personality to play quietly and go about my business.

“I got only two pre-season games, played only 15 official minutes and missed a penalty and they are already killing me; so I know what is ahead of me.

“It’s a price that was paid for a huge transfer and it’s something that motivates me, inspires me to work harder every day and to spend an hour more every day on the training pitch.

“I know twice as many people will be watching me.”

It remains to be seen whether Morata will start Chelsea host Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in their first Premier League game of the season.
