Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signature of Scottish midfielder Liam Bridcutt from Leeds United.

Bridcutt joined Leeds on a permanent deal last summer and captained the side to a seventh place finish in the Championship last season.

However, he lost his captaincy under Thomas Christiansen at the start of the current campaign and it became evident that he was not a big part of the new Leeds boss’ plans.

The midfielder has sealed a move to Nottingham Forest for a deal worth £1m and will be hoping to rekindle his career under the tutelage of Mark Warburton at the City Ground.

He made 25 appearances for Leeds last season and will be hoping to add his Championship experience to Nottingham Forest’s squad, who have made a good start to the season.

However, Bridcutt won’t be making his debut for Forest against Newcastle United tomorrow night in the EFL Cup as he featured for Leeds in the previous round and is cup-tied.

The midfielder is expected to get an instant opportunity to impress against his former side as Leeds will be travelling to the City Ground at the weekend to take on Forest.
