Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Manchester United linked defender Serge Aurier.

The Ivoirian has been keen to leave PSG all summer and he was even left out of their pre-season tour of the US in order to allow him to sort out his future but he is yet to leave the French capital.

Manchester United have long being mooted as a potential destination and his representatives have also held talks with Italian clubs, with Inter believed to be at the front of the queue.

However, he could be moving to north London over the course of the next week as according to French sports daily L’Equipe, an agreement between Tottenham and PSG is close.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly been in direct negotiations with PSG and the north Londoners are believed to be prepared to pay a fee north of the €25m mark for Aurier.

The defender has also agreed the terms of a contract with Tottenham but the transfer still facing a major hurdle as he is still barred from entering the United Kingdom because of an outstanding legal issue.

His lawyers are working to make sure to clear all the hurdles and are confident of getting the issue sorted out but it remains a major roadblock in his desire to join Tottenham.

A move to Italy could be his last option if legal issues prevent his transfer to north London from happening.
