Former Celtic forward Kris Commons believes Pedro Caixinha is living in a different reality if he feels Rangers can compete with the Bhoys in Scotland.

The Rangers manager has been bullish about his team since his arrival in March and has often said that he has the best squad of players in Scotland, despite inconsistent performances on the pitch.

Caixinha has already been warned by many about concentrating on his team’s performances and rather than engaging in off the pitch battles and Commons admits that the Rangers manager must be observing something that no one else has spotted as he believes Celtic are on a different planet compared to their Glasgow rivals.

He is hopeful that Caixinha’s words about the quality of the Rangers squad are more bullish talk than his real assessment of what he is working with at Ibrox.

"If he thinks he can keep pace with Celtic, I don't know what he's watching", Commons told the BBC.

"I just don't understand what warrants him saying he has the best squad.

"I think it's more of a hope than looking at a team performance and training from Monday to Friday and thinking 'you know what, we are the real deal’.”

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has already said that Rangers can only move forward this season if they get rid of Caixinha, after concluding he is not up to the job at Ibrox.
