Inter Milan’s proposed offer for Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi is still short of Arsenal’s asking price for him.

The 25-year-old defender has been angling for a move away from Arsenal this month and Arsene Wenger has done little to suggest that he is desperate to hold on to him.

While Juventus are interested in signing him, Inter are the ones who have been doing all the leg work to make sure they can snare the defender away from Arsenal before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Inter officials met the player’s representatives in recent days, where the details of the move were discussed and the club have prepared an offer for the defender.

According to Italian broadcaster Premium Sport, Inter are prepared to offer a €5m loan fee to Arsenal for Mustafi this summer and put in a €30m option to buy him on a permanent deal.

The deal would amount to around €35m, which is still short of the €40m Arsenal are demanding from the defender’s suitors ahead of the close of the transfer window.

Arsenal are also expected to insist on a obligatory purchase option, but Inter are serious about signing Mustafi and the defender has been convinced that his future lies away from north London.
