Sunderland attacking midfielder Wahbi Khazri is in advanced discussions with French Ligue 1 side Rennes. 

Khazri is keen to move on from the Stadium of Light before the transfer window slams shut and the 26-year-old has options on his table ahead of its closure on Thursday night.




Turkish sides Trabzonspor and Alanyaspor are both keen to snap up the wantaway Tunisia international, but Khazri could end up back in France.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Rennes have been working on an agreement for Khazri and have now started advanced discussions with the Sunderland star.

 


Rennes are eyeing a loan agreement and would shoulder the majority of Khazri's Sunderland salary.

The attacking midfielder started his senior career in France with Bastia, before then making the move to Bordeaux.

Sunderland snapped Khazri up from Bordeaux in the 2016 winter transfer window and he put pen to paper on a contract running until the summer of 2020.
