Liverpool are holding talks aimed at striking a deal with Roma for full-back Emerson Palmieri.

Jurgen Klopp's side have been working hard on several fronts as the summer transfer window approaches its climax and they have an active negotiation ongoing with Roma.

According to Sky Italia, Liverpool are in touch over signing the left-back and would like to snap him up with the transfer to become effective at a later date.

Currently Emerson is recovering from a knee injury and if Liverpool can do the deal then he would stay at Roma before then moving to Anfield.

A product of Santos' youth academy, Emerson was snapped up by Roma in 2015 after a spell on loan at fellow Italian club Palermo.

The defender has an Italian passport, so would not need to worry about obtaining a work permit for the move to England.

Emerson has also opted to play his international football for Italy, despite being capped by Brazil at youth level.
