A meeting between Liverpool and Monaco officials is under way as the Reds look to push through a deal to sign Arsenal target Thomas Lemar.

Arsene Wenger thought last week that the door to sign Lemar from Monaco has been closed, but Liverpool have put their foot down to find an opening this week.

They slapped in an €80m offer for Lemar on Monday morning and improved their bid later by offering wantaway striker Divock Origi on loan to the Ligue 1 champions.

According to French magazine Le 10 Sport, Monaco have rejected the bid as they are not interested in the Belgian striker and if they are to sell Lemar, they are only interested in a straightforward deal involving cash.

Monaco want Liverpool to match their financial demands, believed to be around the €100m figure, if they want Lemar, but the Reds have not given up hope of signing the Frenchman.
