Southampton are yet to receive a bid for wantaway defender and Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk on deadline day.

Van Dijk has done everything possible, including slapping in a transfer request, not training and playing this season and accusing the club of trying to stunt his career graph, to find a way out of Southampton this summer.

But the Saints have continued to maintain that they are not interested in selling the player and have made it public that the Dutchman remains part of their plans this season.

Liverpool are still interested in signing the defender in the final hours of the window despite tendering a public apology for unsettling him up and are expected to make one last push to land their top defensive target but seemingly, they are yet to make a move.

According to the Press Association, Southampton have not received a single offer from any of Van Dijk’s suitors on deadline day and are also not expected to entertain any bids.

Chelsea are also believed to be interested in snapping up the wantaway Dutchman but even in the final hours of the window, Southampton’s hardnosed stance on Van Dijk has not changed.

And it remains to be seen whether their resolve is tested further over the course of the day as the clock approaches 11pm tonight, when the window in England slams shut.
