Emre Can will not sign a new contract with Liverpool and Juventus will kick off talks on a pre-contractual agreement in January, it has been claimed.

The Germany international's contract with Liverpool expires next summer and the Reds have not yet been able to convince him to pen a fresh deal, despite holding talks.

Juventus have been keen to sign Can, but Liverpool would not sell this summer and the Bianconeri snapped up Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian giants are not going away though and, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Can has chosen not to sign a new deal with Liverpool.

Juventus will look to put a pre-contractual agreement in place with Can in the new year.
