Liverpool loanee Divock Origi has explained his reasons for choosing to join Wolfsburg on loan, with it appearing before deadline day that Newcastle United could scoop him up, as Rafael Benitez targeted taking him to St. James' Park.

Andries Jonker's team secured a season-long loan deal for the Belgium youngster on deadline day, taking him to Germany where he will expect to play more regularly than at Anfield.

A number of clubs had shown interest in securing the Belgian, with his father admitting Tottenham were an option, but Newcastle firmly leading the chase to keep Origi in England.

However, Wolfsburg acted quickly and held talks with Origi and his representatives to sell the striker on a move to the Bundesliga.

Opening up to his new club's official website, the Belgian revealed just why he was won over by Wolfsburg.
