Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to close the book on his side's unsuccessful pursuit of Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

The Gunners were keen to sign Lemar all summer long and even came back to the negotiating table on transfer deadline day to try to put together an agreement with Monaco.

The Premier League side eventually succeeded in thrashing out a reported £90m fee for Lemar with the Ligue 1 champions, but the 21-year-old quickly let it be known he did not want to join Arsenal.

Now Wenger is keen to move on from his side's failed pursuit and is not looking to continue to discuss it.

"The player has chosen to stay at Monaco", Wenger told beIN Sports.

"I know we live in an era of transparency but at some stage, to respect everybody, you have to not talk too much about that.

"You have to respect what happens on the negotiation side."

Despite facing a fight to break back into the Premier League's top four, Arsenal made a profit on their dealings in the summer transfer window.

They also kept hold of Alexis Sanchez, despite the forward wanting to leave for Manchester City.

Sanchez could now move on from the Emirates Stadium next summer on a free transfer.
