Barcelona made another late move for Arsenal and Liverpool target Thomas Lemar on Spain's deadline day on Friday, but had to backtrack upon hearing Monaco’s financial demands.

Liverpool made a play to sign the winger in the final week of the window but couldn’t find an agreement with Monaco and even Arsenal reentered the chase for the winger on deadline day in England.




The 21-year-old snubbed a move to Arsenal despite the Gunners agreeing a €100m fee with the Ligue 1 champions and pledged his future to Monaco.

Barcelona, who were scrambling for signings on the Spanish deadline day, made a late enquiry for the Frenchman but were left shocked by Monaco’s demands.

According to Catalan daily Sport, Monaco demanded a fee of around €120m from a desperate Barcelona, but the Catalan giants were not interested in spending that figure on Lemar.

Their primary target on deadline day was Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel di Maria, but they failed to reach an agreement with the Parisians despite numerous attempts and ultimately had to bow out of the chase.

Barcelona also ultimately failed to convince Liverpool to part ways with Philippe Coutinho, despite the player wanting to join the Catalan giants during the transfer window.
