England Under-17 international Jadon Sancho is yet to receive FIFA clearance to feature for Borussia Dortmund following his transfer from Manchester City last week.

Considered one of the best youngsters to come out of Manchester City’s academy in recent years, the winger was voted the best player in the Under-17 European Championships in May.




Frustrated at being left out of Manchester City’s pre-season squad, Sancho actively sought a transfer and was linked with a move to Tottenham and Manchester United in the summer.

The youngster eventually joined Dortmund last week for a transfer fee of around €8m, with the club hoping to draft him into their first team squad sooner rather than later.

However, according to German magazine Sport Bild, he is yet to receive international clearance from FIFA to feature for the Ruhr valley club this season.

With regards to underage players, FIFA have strict guidelines on transfers and Dortmund will have to undergo a thorough check before the game’s governing body ratifies the transfer.

Dortmund’s academy is rated as one of the finest in the game and the club are not expecting any hurdles in getting clearance for Sancho from FIFA in the coming days.

The youngster has signed a three-year deal with Dortmund.
