Rangers defender Danny Wilson has revealed that if he could go back in time, he would have still signed for Liverpool.

The 25-year-old, who was snapped up by Liverpool from Rangers in the summer of 2010, endured a disappointing spell at Anfield.

Wilson managed just 15 appearances in all competitions for the Reds and had loan spells away from the English giants at Blackpool, Bristol City and Hearts.

He permanently joined Hearts in 2013 before returning to his boyhood club Rangers two years later.

But the centre-back insisted that despite an unsuccessful stint at Liverpool, he would have still joined the Reds if he could head back in time as the Gers were looking at selling him at that time to raise money for new signings.

“No, I still would have gone to Liverpool at that time because at that time Rangers were probably looking at selling me”, he told Rangers TV, when asked if he could go back, would he have still moved to Liverpool or held back, developed and then left.

“I had a year left on my contract and with the money they got for me, they bought [Nikica] Jelavic.

“It was good for both parties that we moved on.”

At Anfield, Wilson had the chance to train alongside a number of world class players, including Luis Suarez.

Wilson, who is in the final year of his contract with Rangers, has been sparingly used by Gers boss Pedro Caixinha in the present campaign, clocking up just 91 minutes over three appearances in all competitions.
