Rangers youngster Ross Lyon has revealed that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is his hero in football.

The Portugal international, who won his fourth Ballon d'Or award last year, was also named the UEFA Men's Player of the Year for the 2016/17 campaign in August.

Ronaldo scored 42 goals in 46 matches for Real Madrid last season, while in total he has amassed 396 appearances for the Spanish champions, finding the back of the net a staggering 407 times.

And Lyon explained that Ronaldo’s exciting style of play, coupled with his goalscoring prowess makes the 32-year-old his football hero.

“Just because of the way he plays, it’s exciting to watch him.

“[He] scores goals for fun.”

Lyon, who can play both in midfield and in defence, went on to say that he also has an eye for a goal.

“Probably creating chances, scoring goals and getting by players”, he said, when asked about his strengths.

However, the 19-year-old was quick to admit that he wants to add more goals to his name.

“I should improve on probably scoring more goals”, Lyon added.

Lyon, who has represented Scotland up to Under-16 level, is yet to make his first team debut for Rangers.
