Liverpool and Southampton defensive target Zinho Vanheusden insists that the summer was not the right time for him to leave Inter Milan.

The 18-year-old Belgian is considered one of the best young defenders to come out of the Inter academy in recent years and was the subject of interest from clubs across Europe during the recently concluded transfer window.

While there were enquiries over loan deals for Vanheusden, Liverpool and Southampton also contacted Inter to sign the young defender on a permanent deal too.

Inter rejected the overtures from the Premier League clubs and the young defender also feels that the time is not right for him to leave the Serie A giants.

He has been an unused substitute in two Serie A games this season and the Belgian admits that he dreams of playing in the top tier of Italian football regularly with the Nerazzurri.

Vanheusden was quoted as saying by FcInterNews: “I know there were many clubs interested me for a loan move, but I didn’t think it was the right time to leave.

“I dream of playing in the Nerazzurri shirt in Serie A, but I know it will be difficult.”

The youngster has two years left on his contract with Inter and his suitors are likely to continue monitoring his situation in Italy.
