Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman feels Tottenham Hotspur just need a win at Wembley to provide momentum to their season as he still believes the north London club are serious title contenders.

Tottenham are yet to win at Wembley this season, but they put down a marker with Osman looking on with a convincing 3-0 win over an improving Everton side at Goodison Park.

Harry Kane has found his scoring touch again in the month of September and netted his first two league goals of the season against the Toffees, while Christian Eriksen also found himself on the scoresheet.

Osman believes Everton were not lacking in effort, but Tottenham were just too good for Ronald Koeman’s side and should be considered serious title contenders.

However, he feels Tottenham still need to get rid of the perceived Wembley hoodoo with a win at home this season as soon as possible.

Osman said on BBC Radio 5 live: “It's not been through a lack of effort from Everton, but Spurs have just been a cut above.

“Their movement and the way they have worked together as a team was brilliant.

“Tottenham should certainly be considered title contenders after that performance.

"They just need to get that victory at Wembley and they will be on their way.”

Tottenham are set to face a tough Wembley test on Wednesday night when they host Borussia Dortmund in their first Champions League group game of the season.
