Ex-Celtic defender Mark Wilson thinks Paris Saint-Germain are the best team to ever come at Paradise after the French outfit put the Hoops to the sword on Tuesday, better even than Barcelona in their pomp in recent years.

PSG thumped Celtic 5-0 in the Champions League Group B encounter and had put three past Brendan Rodgers’ team before the half-time break.

Summer signings Neymar and Kylian Mbappe found the back of the net, with Edinson Cavani netting a brace, while Mikael Lustig was guilty of scoring an own goal.

And Wilson explained that he has never seen a better team than PSG visit Paradise, keeping in mind Barcelona came to the ground at their pomp with the likes of Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernandez in their ranks.

The 33-year-old said that what made PSG different from other teams, such as the hugely successful Barcelona outfit, is that they visited Scotland with a purpose and looked to score at every opportunity.

“I think so”, Wilson told Celtic TV, when asked if PSG are the best team to ever come to Paradise.

“I have played in some of these games and watched many of them.

“But that the other night was as impressive a performance as I’ve seen.

“Because teams like Barcelona at the height of their power came here with Messi and Xavi.

“They kept the ball, lovely play and it’s great in the eye.

“But that PSG team came here with a purpose.

“Their passes were forward and crisp and in the path of their team-mates.

“They wanted to score at every opportunity and they were clinical when they did get the chances.

“I think when we looked back at the game and compare the top teams Celtic have faced, this PSG team looks and above anything Celtic have faced before.”

When asked if PSG will be disappointed if they do not win the Champions League this season, Wilson replied: “I think so, after that first half the other night I was thinking, ‘this team will go to the latter stages.’

“They spent a lot and you expect them to be in the latter stages of the Champions League.

“But watching that front three the other night, I think any defence in Europe will struggle to deal with them.”

Besides PSG, Celtic have Bayern Munich and Anderlecht for company in their Champions League group.
