Former Manchester United manager Ron Atkinson believes the Red Devils have an aura about them this season which was missing last year.

Manchester United continued their strong start to the season with a 4-0 win over Everton at home on Sunday and joined Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

The Red Devils also won their first three games of last term but only managed to finish sixth in the table and managed to salvage their season by winning the EFL Cup and the Europa League.

Manchester United look a much more potent force in front of goal this time around and Atkinson believes they are playing better football compared to last season.

The club’s former manager also feels other than looking in much better shape and playing with confidence, the Manchester United players also have their aura back this time around.

Atkinson told MUTV: “In all fairness, the team are playing far better than at any given point last season.

“They look in good shape, players are playing with confidence and they have got the aura about them where I think they go, ‘we’ll win this’.

“They didn’t have that last year – bit nervous and bit disjointed but certainly this year they look a much better outfit.”

Manchester United have scored 16 goals and have conceded just twice this season in the Premier League thus far.
