Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has revealed that while Lee Wallace will his side’s Scottish League Cup quarter-final clash against Partick Thistle, Declan John is available for selection at Firhill.

Wallace picked up a groin injury early on during Rangers’ 2-2 draw with the Jags in the league last Friday and was replaced by debutant John, who himself complained of an ankle niggle after the Scottish Premiership fixture.

Although John returned to training on Sunday with no problems, Wallace will travel to England today to assess the extent of his injury.

And Caixinha explained that besides missing Tuesday’s match against Partick Thistle, the Rangers skipper will also not be available for the Old Firm derby at the weekend.

The Portuguese tactician also said that Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans will be in the squad for the Scottish League Cup quarter-final.

“Lee Wallace is out, he is travelling to Manchester today to have an assessment on his groin so let’s see how it goes”, Caixinha told Rangers TV.

“Depending on the outcome of that we will see what we need to do.

“He will miss the weekend, Lee is out we just need to know for how long he needs to be out.

“Declan John will definitely be with us tomorrow as will Ryan Jack who will start.

“Graham Dorrans is back at training today, yesterday he felt a bit sick and the doctor is already on him.

“He will not train with the team this morning but we think he will be available for Tuesday.”

Caixinha went on to add that Niko Kranjcar and Jordan Rossiter, who were absent from the trip to Firhill last week, are struggling with knee injuries.

“Niko started back training with us on Sunday”, he continued.

“He is still going to be assessed by his surgeon so we are going to see how we are going to deal with his situation.

“It is the same knee as he injured last season.

“Jordan Rossiter still has some pain on the knee so he still can’t train with the team and is not in our options.”
