Eddie Gray thinks the Leeds United squad players will get to feature against Burnley in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

The Whites lost their first game of the season at the weekend when Millwall edged out Thomas Christiansen’s team 1-0 at the Den.

Liam Cooper missed the game with a back problem, while fellow centre-back Pontus Jansson picked up a hamstring injury towards the end of the match against the Lions.

Following the game against Burnley on Tuesday, Leeds will lock horn with Ipswich Town four days later.

And Gray is of the opinion that injury problems, coupled with fixtures coming thick and fast will prompt Christiansen to test his squad depth at Turf Moor.

“I think so”, Gray told LUTV, when asked if the squad players will get a chance against Burnley.

“He [Christiansen] will be a little bit disappointed losing Pontus Jansson to injury in the end, hamstring, especially with Liam Cooper not playing at the Den.

“It’s an opportunity for Thomas to give a couple of squad players a game.

“But they have got to bounce back next week against Ipswich in the league.

“That’s going to be an important game.”

Leeds, who remain top of the Championship table with 17 points from eight games, could come up against their former player Chris Wood at Turf Moor.

The New Zealand international left the Yorkshire giants for Burnley in the summer.
