Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has dubbed former Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke "a wonderful kid" and believes the 20-year-old is keen to grab the opportunity to play however many minutes come his way. 

Solanke joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window following the expiry of his contract at Chelsea, as he sought to take further steps forward in his Premier League career. 




Klopp brought Solanke on off the bench in Liverpool's 1-1 draw at home against Burnley on Saturday and the youngster saw a side-foot volley strike the crossbar as the Reds looked for a winner.

Solanke has made a positive impress on Klopp and the German has hailed him ahead of Liverpool's EFL Cup tie at Leicester City this week.
 


"It's exciting, absolutely exciting. I'm really happy to have him around. He's a wonderful kid, that's how it is", Klopp said at a press conference.

"He takes the minutes – each minute – as an opportunity. That's the benefit of [his] age.

"When you are this age and you didn't play so often in the Premier League then it's a Premier League game in the stats, whether it's one minute, two minutes, it's five, it's 20. He doesn't care too much about this. 

"You can see this, he's full of joy and quality, it was nice to see", Klopp added.

So far this season Solanke has clocked up 54 minutes of Premier League action for Liverpool across three games, along with turning out for six minutes in the Champions League.
