Former Burton Albion striker Shaun Harrad feels the Brewers must look to enjoy the occasion of taking on Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Harrad, who returned to the club in an academy role recently, was part of the Burton Albion side that forced Manchester United into an FA Cup replay after they held the Premier League giants to a draw at the Pirelli in 2006.

Burton visit Old Trafford tonight for an EFL Cup third round clash and are massive underdogs going into the game, especially after a flying start to Manchester United’s season.

But Harrad, who did play at Old Trafford more than a decade back, feels the Burton players should look to soak up the occasion as it could be their once in a lifetime opportunity to play at the famous stadium.

“It's obviously going to be a tough ask, no matter how you look at it", Harrad told the Burton Mail.

"Back then, the gaffer just said, 'go out and enjoy it – take the occasion in and embrace it'.

"It's probably once-in-a-lifetime, if you are lucky.”

In 2006 Burton were a non-league side consisting of amateur footballers and while Harrad feels that while the club are much closer to Manchester United now, the principals of playing a side of their quality remain the same.

"I know the levels are very close [now], but it's not that often you get to go to Old Trafford and get to express yourself.

"Most importantly, go and enjoy it, and take it from there.

"At the level Burton are now, everything is in preparation for games.

"There were one or two coming off the building site having done a day's graft in 2006.

"It's slightly different, but the same principles apply.

"We go there to do our best and go and enjoy the occasion."
