Chelsea legend Clive Walker feels Charly Musonda has grabbed his first team chance with both hands by virtue of his performance in the Blues' 5-1 EFL Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

Conte started Musonda in the cup tie at Stamford Bridge and he did not disappoint as he turned in a superb performance full of promise for the future.

Chelsea took the lead through Kenedy in just the 13th minute before Michy Batshuayi struck in the 19th minute. Musonda then got on the scoresheet five minutes from half time as the Blues went in 3-0 up at the break.

Batshuayi scored again in the 53rd and 86th minutes, with Forest scoring a consolation in injury time, as it ended 5-1 to the hosts.

Walker was hugely impressed with what he saw from Musonda and believes with his performance the Belgian will have gained Conte's trust.

"We always say that youngsters get an opportunity, the window playing for this club doesn't open very often, and when it does you have to somehow take that chance", Walker said on Chelsea TV.

"He obviously felt he was going to get an opportunity at some stage and he took that today.

"He took it how we've seen him play in the Under-23s. He's taken it like this is my time, this is my moment.

"He got the understanding and the trust of the manager this evening", the Chelsea legend added.

Musonda is in direct competition with established stars such as Willian and Pedro Rodriguez for a spot in the side and it remains to be seen when the youngster's next opportunity will arrive.

It could come in the next round of the EFL Cup with Chelsea having been drawn at home against Everton in the fourth round.
