The agent of West Ham linked midfielder Simone Verdi admits that his client wants to concentrate on having a good season at Bologna at the moment.

The creative midfielder was one of the players a West Ham scout watched on Tuesday night as Bologna played out a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan in a Serie A clash at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

The Hammers are believed to be closely following the Italian, who made his debut for the Azzurri in March this year, with a view to making a move for him in the future transfer windows.

Donato Orgnoni, his agent, confirmed that his client never considered leaving Bologna in the summer and therefore, there were no talks with any other clubs regarding a transfer.

However, while Verdi wants to concentrate on having a good season at Bologna, his agent indicated that the player does harbour the ambition of playing for a bigger club.

He added that if any offer lands on Bologna’s table in the upcoming windows, it is up to the club to decide what they want to do with Verdi.

Orgnoni told Italian radio station Radio Crc: “We didn’t speak with anyone else during the summer because we had to stay at Bologna.

“We are very happy but then it’s normal for any player to have an ambition and the need to improve.

“But for the moment we are only thinking about Bologna and Simone wants to have a good season.

“If Bologna receive any offers for my client, they will decide what to do.”

Verdi has a contract until 2021 with Bologna.
