Manchester United legend Lou Macari has hailed Marcus Rashford’s remarkable rise through the ranks at Old Trafford over the last few seasons.

Rashford was plucked out of reserve team football and named in Manchester United’s Europa League matchday squad against FC Midtjylland due to an injury crisis.

Then Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was forced to draft him into the first eleven when Anthony Martial suffered an injury and the young forward scored a brace on his debut.

Two days later he scored two more goals on his Premier League debut against Arsenal and the forward has not looked back since then, becoming a regular fixture for club and country.

Rashford scored one more brace in Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Burton Albion on Wednesday night and Macari admits that the England striker’s rise from reserve team football over the last few years has been nothing short of remarkable.
