Atletico Madrid have not planned any friendlies to get Diego Costa up to speed ahead of his debut for the club in January.

The transfer saga surrounding Costa finally reached its logical conclusion after it was confirmed on Thursday that Chelsea have agreed to sell the out-of-favour striker to Atletico Madrid.

The deal is worth a potential €65m and Costa is expected to be in Spain soon in order to undergo a medical before signing a three-and-a-half year contract with his former club.

With Atletico Madrid banned from signing players in the summer, the club were not in any hurry to get the deal over the line last month, but they have eventually got their man.

Costa could be making his debut on 3rd January in a cup game or a league match on 6th January, but according to Spanish daily AS, Atletico Madrid have no plans to schedule a friendly to get the striker match fit.
