West Ham striker Javier Hernandez admits that the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur will be special, but he has stressed that he plays with the same kind of passion and attitude in all games.

The Hammers have a good recent record against Spurs going into the weekend's clash at the London Stadium and the east Londoners are looking forward to extending the run of good results.

Hernandez is also looking forward to the local London derby and is aware of the importance of such a game for the footballers and supporters involved for both clubs.

However, the striker stressed that he shows the same kind of passion and hunger in any game he plays and he is not going to be any different when he faces Tottenham.

The Mexican believes it is important that the team show the same kind of attitude in all the games and not only in one or two games when local bragging rights are at stake.

The striker told West Ham TV: “I think derbies are big for everyone and obviously they have a different flavour, especially for the fans.

“I was brought up as a football player that a derby is a special match, a very nice one, but I always try to play as if all matches were like that.

“We shouldn’t play differently in only one or two matches a year, you have to play like that in all 38 matches in the league.

“Obviously derbies have a different feeling, I think it's a bit more about the environment, but I personally always want to play as if every match were my last, as if it were my last chance and give my all, to give back the trust that my coach, my team-mates and all the fans had in me.”

Hernandez never scored against Tottenham when he was at Manchester United.
