Neil Redfearn believes Leeds United should be happy if they get six points from their next three league games ahead of the international break.

Leeds are currently at the top of the Championship table and have a home game and two away trips in the league before the international break starts next month.

Leeds are favourites to beat Ipswich Town at Elland Road on Saturday, but have two tough away trips to Cardiff City on Tuesday night and Sheffield Wednesday next weekend.

And Redfearn believes that a haul of six points should be good enough for Leeds as they look to chase promotion at the end of the season.

While the former Leeds boss admits that the team have the ability to win all three games, he was quick to point out the Championship remains a notoriously volatile league where nothing is certain.

Redfearn said on Radio Yorkshire’s Yorkshire Football Show: “Six points would be a good return from one at home and two away.

“It’s great that supporters say that we are going to get nine points and the expectation is fantastic, but realistically if you get enough points out of these games until the end of the season you get promoted.

“That’s what you are after and the division is tough.

"If Leeds get six points out of the next three, that’s a good return.

“I think they are playing well enough to get nine points, but it’s a tough division.”

Leeds tasted defeat for the first time this season when they lost at Millwall last weekend.
